Position: COUNTRY DIRECTOR, Jinishian Memorial Program Association Lebanon

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Description

The Executive Director serves as the chief administrator and country director for all program activities, finances, and administration conducted in Lebanon, pursuant to the intents of the Vartan Jinishian legacy and according to Jinishian Memorial Program Administrative Guidelines.

The areas of responsibilities are as follows:

  1. Program Management
    Develop, direct, monitor and evaluate projects, programs, and cooperative ventures, which support the mission of the Jinishian Memorial Program (JMP) “to enable Armenians in need to move from poverty and despair to self-sufficiency and hope.”
  2. Financial Management
    Maintain a financial management system acceptable to Lebanon, JMP USA and the United States Advisory Committee (USAC) in accordance with their policies, standards, and procedures.
  3. Strategic Planning and Budgeting
    Generate strategic and operational plans, short and long term, while recommending income and expense budgets to support them
  4. Public Relations
    Build and maintain relationships with the three traditional Armenian religious communities, as well as Armenian and international not-for-profit organizations and governmental agencies.
  5. Fundraising
    In addition to the endowment income from JMP USA, seek sources of income from individuals, organizations and governmental agencies that clearly identify with Jinishian’s mission.
  6.  Regular Reporting
    Provide periodic narrative, statistical, and financial reports to Jinishian Memorial Association Lebanon and Beirut Advisory Committee, as well as JMP and United States Advisory Committee in English.
  7. Relationship to the Local Advisory Committee
    Consult regularly with the Beirut Advisory Committee (BAC) on those matters specified in the JMP Administrative Guidelines, prepare agendas and draft of minutes in consultation with the BAC chairperson, and serve as the JMP representative at their meetings.
  8. Hiring and Supervision of Staff
    Select, hire, supervise, discipline, and dismiss employees of Jinishian Memorial Association Lebanon, in accordance with the approved staffing plan and established personnel policies, and in consultation with the supervisor.
  9. General Administration
    Safeguard the assets, files, records, and archives of the organization, while ensuring compliance with Lebanon legislation wherever required.
  10. Other
    Pursue other activities in-country or internationally pertinent to the interest of the Jinishian Memorial Program when delegated.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong leadership, management and communications skills;
  • Fluency in Armenian, Arabic and English;
  • Recognized University degree(s) in Administration, Business and Management;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work history with supervisory/executive experience;
  • Leadership role within community or other voluntary initiatives;
  • Knowledge and experience in developing projects addressing root causes of poverty;
  • Knowledge of the international community and community-based development;
