“Habitat for Humanity” Housing Renovation Project
Beginning in 2011, Habitat For Humanity Lebanon (HFHL) has partnered with JMP–L in its “Lebanon Vulnerable Groups Housing” project to help very vulnerable families repair their houses for such needs as installing proper sanitation, reinforcing unsafe structure, waterproofing, replacing roofing, etc. Two-thirds of the cost of repairs is covered by HFHL, while one-third is given as a no-interest loan, guaranteed by JMP–L. The families repay their loans in installments ranging from $15 to $25 per month over a period of up to 22 months. In addition, financial literacy training is given to the loan receivers to provide them with knowledge and skills of managing debts, payments, incomes and expenses.
