Assistance for Hospitalization
JMP–L provides assistance by applying or referring to hospitals or other health institutions. Every effort is exerted by JMP–L staff to use governmental hospitals.
The high cost of diagnostic tests and hospitalization fees presently prevailing in Lebanon(one of the highest in the world) cannot be afforded by many citizens. Fortunately, the Ministry of Public Health covers the hospitalization bills of some major operations, such as open heart, and provides most of the medications needed by cancer patients and those who are undergoing kidney dialysis.
Sometimes, when the hospitalization bill is too high, JMP–L shares expenses with other welfare agencies. For example, JMP–L often helps in fundraising for the “Save a Life Fund,” a fund initiated by the Union of Armenian Social Workers to raise money for the hospitalization expenses of critical and very expensive medical interventions.
Patients who hold Syrian citizenship sometimes choose to go to Syria for diagnostic tests, and especially for surgery, because of more affordable prices there and because they have no medical security coverage in Lebanon.

Assistance for Other Medical Expenses
Assistance is also provided for other medical expenses.
Patients in need of special attention are referred to medical centers or specialists for consultation or treatment, including lab and diagnostic tests, x-rays, physiotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, optical or dental treatment, etc. Usually, specialists charge reduced fees when referred by JMP–L staff.
Occasionally, financial assistance is also given for the purchase of prostheses.
JMP–L also offers occasional free medical examinations, such as glucose and cholesterol tests.
To facilitate the lives of bed-ridden sick and needy cases, JMP–L provides, on a lending basis, wheelchairs, walkers, waterbeds and other medical accessories.
