The Community Development Core Committee organized two cleaning campaigns in 2005 and 2006, in the area of the Municipal Public Houses in Bourj Hammoud.
First Cleaning Campaign
The first campaign started on August 8, 2005. It involved the cleaning of damp and flooded building basements and the replacement of water pumps to do away with accumulated stagnant water and to create healthier conditions for the residents.
As part of the first cleaning campaign, the Core Committee organized a drawing and painting competition on October 29, 2005, to spread the idea of cleanliness and create awareness among families on the protection of their environment. Children aged 4–15 participated in the contest that took place at the AksorKassardjian Armenian National School. The award-giving ceremony was held on November 12, 2005, at the cahl auditorium. The first four winners were awarded a year of free drawing classes at the Hamazkayin Toros Roslin School of Fine Arts, in Bourj Hammoud.

Second Cleaning Campaign
As a result of the summer 2006 war in Lebanon, garbage collection and disposal came to a standstill in many areas of the country, including Bourj Hammoud.

Residents and young people feeling responsible for the cleanliness of their quarters in Bourj Hammoud carried out a cleaning campaign organized by the Core Committee in August 2006.
The residents participated with enthusiasm in this campaign, cleaning abandoned lands, terraces, passages and basements in the municipal residential buildings. The Municipality of Bourj Hammoud also played a big role in this initiative.
Trash bins were also bought and placed in the neighborhood and in front of each building block.
Other initiatives to improve the cleanliness of the neighborhoods included increasing greenery and street lighting under the bridge connecting Bourj Hammoud and Jdeideh.
